She embodies the philosophy that “playing small does not serve the world.” Her life and work demonstrate that limits are often self-imposed, and she is committed to helping others break through those boundaries. Through her record-breaking climbs and motivational speaking, Saray is actively “Changing the Narrative for the Next Generation,” inspiring young people to dream bigger, persevere, and redefine what’s possible.
In 2023, Saray launched #Trek4Education, a series of expeditions aimed at raising funds and awareness for educational projects across Africa. These treks offer participants the opportunity to embark on life-changing adventures while contributing to a noble cause. In 2024, she successfully led three Trek4Education adventures, including an unforgettable Kilimanjaro trek with an incredible group of women.
By participating in #Trek4Education, adventurers not only challenge themselves physically and mentally but also play a pivotal role in transforming education for the next generation. Saray’s unwavering belief in the power of literacy and education drives her mission to change the narrative for African youth, demonstrating that “playing small does not serve the world.”

A HELPING HAND
GIVING BACK TO OUR BELOVED COMMUNITY:
Some of the organisations she has volunteered and raised funds for include:

Kids Haven, a centre that provides protection, care and education for vulnerable children. Her expedition and summit of Kilimanjaro raised funds to build and equip a library at the organisation’s Child and Youth Care Centre in Benoni.

Saray has adopted The Lunchbox Fund and continues to raise funds to feed over 60 000 needy kids.

Mandela Libraries projects which builds libraries for under privileged schools.
- She has built 16 libraries in South Africa for underprivileged schools and has ambitions to build at least one library in every country on the African continent.

In 2012 Saray founded Summits with a Purpose, an initiative that makes hiking, climbing and adventure sports more accessible to ordinary South Africans and encourages them to use these activities as a platform to make a difference in their communities. Summits with a Purpose has grown into an effective NPO, inspiring many to rise to a positive way of living.
